Practicing good skin care during COVID-19
posted: Apr. 09, 2020.
In these days of social distancing and self-quarantine in our homes, it’s important to keep up with your regular skincare routine. Changes in diet, stress, and activity can result in facial acne, dryness, and other negative effects on the skin.
Hydration is key! The humidity and air from staying inside all day can lead to dry skin. Use hydrating serums and moisturizers to repair the skin barrier like our very own FDL Pure Restorative Moisturizer, Trans-Retinol Enriched Eye Cream, and Pure Hydration Hyaluronic Acid Serum.
Wearing sunscreen daily is important to help reduce your risk of skin cancer and premature aging. We recommend the following sun protection products: EltaMD UV Clear SPF 46 (Tinted + Non-Tinted) and Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection SPF 50 (Face Shield + Body Shield). Also, don’t forget to reapply your sunscreen! Our favorite is Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Brush-On Shield SPF 50 for an easy application without having to touch your face.
Before you start your skin routine, don’t forget to wash your hands with soap. Handwashing is the CDC’s top recommendation for you to protect against illness and the spread of COVID-19.
With our new office policies for appointments, it is important to examine your skin once a month for anything new, changing, or unusual on your body. Keep track of existing moles or lesions that grow or change. Schedule a telemedicine appointment if you see a spot that concerns you.
